{"id":29662,"date":"2013-01-11T10:35:27","date_gmt":"2013-01-11T08:35:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=29662"},"modified":"2013-01-11T10:58:42","modified_gmt":"2013-01-11T08:58:42","slug":"expansys-goes-awol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/hardware\/29662\/expansys-goes-awol\/","title":{"rendered":"Expansys goes AWOL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Expansys\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/6772-Expansys\">Expansys<\/a> South Africa &#8211; which claims to be the largest online store for smartphones, netbooks, laptops and accessories in the country &#8211; is currently offline and unreachable, amid numerous complaints from customers.<\/p>\n<p>The company has attracted a host of complaints on consumer website <a title=\"http:\/\/hellopeter.com\/expansys-south-africa\/compliments-and-complaints\" href=\"http:\/\/hellopeter.com\/expansys-south-africa\/compliments-and-complaints\">HelloPeter<\/a> since the start of the year, with many citing an inability to get in touch with the group after having placed an order online.<\/p>\n<p>Attempts by BusinessTech to contact the company proved futile.<\/p>\n<p>Clicking onto the website delivered the following message:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe are sorry for any inconvenience; however the Expansys South Africa site is undergoing some updates and enhancements today.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>One customer wrote the following message on HelloPeter \u00a0on Friday (11 January):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI placed an order on the 12 of December 2012. I paid and received a confirmation of order. Never to hear from them again. It&#8217;s almost been a month now and my order hasn&#8217;t arrived. I cannot get hold of anybody in their call centre and their website is down. I urge anyone considering ordering from them to not do so.
