Volkswagen has announced that its new T-Cross compact SUV will come to South Africa later this year.<\/p>\n

The T-Cross will join the Tiguan and Touareg in the Volkswagen SUV model range and forms part of a growing push into the SUV market for the car manufacturer, with Volkswagen also announcing that it plans to bring its new T-Roc to the country in 2020.<\/p>\n

The T-Cross is 4,237mm long, boasts a wheelbase of 2,551mm and is 1,584mm metres high.<\/p>\n

A host of standard as well as optional driver assistance features will be available including optional LED headlights with wheel sizes of up to 18 inches.<\/p>\n

Volkswagen said that the interior of the T-Cross is similar to that of the new Polo and will be offered with optional Active Info Display.<\/p>\n

While no engine details were provided, internationally the T-Cross has four different turbocharged variants: three petrol and one diesel.<\/p>\n

The two 1.0 TSI three-cylinder petrol engines generate 70 kW or 85 kW. The top model is the 1.5 TSI four-cylinder engine generating 110 kW. Completing the range is a 1.6 TDI four-cylinder engine with 70 kW.<\/p>\n

Volkswagen said that the compact SUV will start at a price below R300,000.<\/p>\n
