Listed retailer Woolworths<\/a> says it has been hit by major technical issues both online and in stores.<\/p>\n

The firm put out a note apologising to its customers shortly after lunch on Wednesday (23 January).<\/p>\n

It follows complaints flooding in on social networks, from customers unable to get online.<\/p>\n

“Dear Woolworths customers,<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, we’ve had an outage affecting many of our key services.<\/p>\n

For the time being, you will not be able to:
\n* Visit our online store
\n* Redeem gift cards
\n* Access certain customer service channels
\n* Use debit cards
\n* Use certain credit cards
\n* Buy air time
\n* Pay utility bills<\/p>\n

We understand that this is a huge inconvenience to you and we’re really sorry. Our technical team is working as fast they can to find a solution. At the moment, we can’t say when we’ll be back up, but we’ll keep you posted on our progress.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A further note was issued shortly before 16:00\u00a0apologising\u00a0for any inconvenience and in which the group hinted that it was unlikely to be up and running before Thursday.<\/p>\n

“Hi Woolworths customers<\/p>\n

Just an update on our technical difficulties: we’re still working on fixing the problem. We’re making progress, but aren’t quite there yet, we’re afraid.<\/p>\n

Thanks so much for all your support and understanding, you guys have been great both online and in store. Again, we’re so sorry for this huge inconvenience.<\/p>\n

If you want to stop off at Woolies on the way home this evening, don’t forget your store card or to draw some cash first.<\/p>\n
