{"id":304866,"date":"2019-03-12T18:19:12","date_gmt":"2019-03-12T16:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=304866"},"modified":"2019-03-12T18:19:12","modified_gmt":"2019-03-12T16:19:12","slug":"pick-n-pay-smart-shopper-vs-woolworths-wrewards-compared","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/304866\/pick-n-pay-smart-shopper-vs-woolworths-wrewards-compared\/","title":{"rendered":"Pick n Pay Smart Shopper vs Woolworths WRewards compared"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A July 2018 Eighty20 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/finance\/255699\/the-most-popular-rewards-programmes-in-south-africa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">report<\/a> <\/strong>found that the average South African consumer is subscribed to as many as nine different rewards programmes, covering retail, petrol, and banking, among other sectors.<\/p>\n<p>However, the report found that while South African consumers were highly subscribed, they aren&#8217;t necessarily always active when it came to using rewards programmes.<\/p>\n<p>Two standouts in this area are Pick n Pay&#8217;s Smart Shopper programme and Woolworths&#8217; WRewards were however, shown to have the highest percentage of active users at 85% and 81% respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Below BusinessTech looked at what makes these programmes stand out, and how they compare against each other.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick n Pay Smart Shopper<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Smart-shopper.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-304878 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Smart-shopper.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Smart-shopper.png 640w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Smart-shopper-300x202.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is free to sign up for a Pick n Pat Smart Shopper account which customers can use to earn and spend points on a variety of deals.<\/p>\n<p>Customers earn points when they swipe their Smart Shopper card at a Pick n Pay till point &#8211; earning 1 point for every R2 spent.<\/p>\n<p>Pick n Pay allows users to spend these points on any item in-store, swap them out for other partner rewards and even donate them to charity.<\/p>\n<p>Customers are also offered personalised and exclusive discounts via the in-store kiosk, Pick n Pay mobile app or directly via a weekly mailer.<\/p>\n<p>The Smart Shopper programme also offers linked accounts to allow the same family to use primary, secondary and collector Smart Shopper cards to earn points seperately.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the partner rewards available through Smart Shopper include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Earn 20 Smart Shopper points per litre* of fuel and BP\u2019s nationwide (until the end of March 2019);<\/li>\n<li>Earn 5000 Smart Shopper points when you book a car rental through Europcar and 3000 Smart Shopper points when you book a chauffeur;<\/li>\n<li>Switch R50 worth of Smart Shopper points for a R100 Intercape voucher;<\/li>\n<li>Switch R25 in Smart Shopper points for ANY small Kauai smoothie;<\/li>\n<li>Switch R50 in Smart Shopper points for a R100 Netflorist voucher;<\/li>\n<li>Get one week of FREE training at a Planet Fitness\/Just Gym of your choice.
