Listed retailer Woolworths<\/a> says it is largely back to normal following an outage during routine maintenance at its data centre.<\/p>\n

However, customers are still not able to shop online, with technicians still working to restore that function, the group said.<\/p>\n

The firm put out a note shortly after lunch on Wednesday (23 January) apologising to its customers who were not able to get online or pay via debit card, and certain credit cards.<\/p>\n

The group said in a note on Facebook:<\/p>\n

For the time being, you will not be able to:
\n* Visit our online store
\n* Redeem gift cards
\n* Access certain customer service channels
\n* Use debit cards
\n* Use certain credit cards
\n* Buy air time
\n* Pay utility bills<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The glitch continued into the night, before the group put out a statement on Thursday (24 January) saying that most services had resumed:<\/p>\n

“<\/span>Woolworths stores can now accept all forms of tender including cash, debit cards and credit cards. Customers can also pay utility bills and buy airtime. The only transaction that cannot currently be processed in stores are gift cards and online shopping is currently down. About 95% of all store systems are currently running normally.<\/p>\n

“An outage occurred during routine maintenance in our data centre yesterday affecting all stores. Our technicians are currently working on getting online back on track and on ensuring we can process gift cards. We expect these systems to be restored shortly.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
