{"id":306494,"date":"2019-03-30T07:00:59","date_gmt":"2019-03-30T05:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=306494"},"modified":"2019-03-29T10:13:21","modified_gmt":"2019-03-29T08:13:21","slug":"these-are-10-of-the-best-countries-for-skilled-south-africans-to-emigrate-to-right-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/306494\/these-are-10-of-the-best-countries-for-skilled-south-africans-to-emigrate-to-right-now\/","title":{"rendered":"These are 10 of the best countries for skilled South Africans to emigrate to right now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Despite a wave of optimism following the appointment of Cyril Rampahosa, the return of load shedding and a number of high-profile corruption scandals means that the outlook for growth in South Africa over the next few years is bleak, while the unemployment rate remains stubbornly high.<\/p>\n<p>As the country heads towards national elections in May, data shows that many South Africans are\u00a0 looking abroad for alternative lifestyles, whether to pursue a better career option, or to avoid rising crime, increasing corruption levels, and declining education standards.<\/p>\n<p>The World Economic Forum, in collaboration with Visual Capitalist, has released a new report looking at the countries which are best at attracting high-skilled workers.<\/p>\n<p>Using data from the United Nations and the Global Talent Competitive Index, the two bodies have released a list of the top 10 countries that are the best at attracting and retaining highly-skilled workers.<\/p>\n<p>They are ordered by overall rank, but their sub-category ranks are also displayed:<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Move.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-306498 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Move.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"759\" height=\"328\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Move.png 759w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Move-300x130.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 759px) 100vw, 759px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The subcategory ranks are defined as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Enable:<\/strong> Status of regulatory and market landscapes in country;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Attract:<\/strong> Ability to attract companies and people with needed competencies;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Grow:<\/strong> Ability to offer high-quality education, apprenticeships, and training;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Retain:<\/strong> Indicates quality of life in country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to the data, Switzerland (1st) and Singapore (2nd) are the two best countries for attaining and keeping high-skilled workers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While the regulatory environments in both of these countries are well-known by reputation, perhaps what\u2019s more surprising is that Singapore scores the #1 rank in the \u201cAttract\u201d subcategory, while Switzerland is the #1 country for retaining talent based on quality of life,&#8221;
