are the new car license fees for Gauteng, the Western Cape and KZN in 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Gauteng, KZN and Western Cape provincial governments have gazetted their motor vehicle licence (MVL) fee increases for 2019.<\/p>\n<p>These fee increases officially came into effect on 1 April 2019 and are traditionally a tax used by the government to improve road conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The Western Cape <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/motoring\/296500\/here-are-the-western-capes-new-car-licence-fees-for-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> <\/strong>that it relies on vehicle licence fees to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Build, upgrade and maintain the provincially-owned road network.<\/li>\n<li>Assist municipalities to fund the maintenance of their more strategic roads.<\/li>\n<li>Continue to reduce the maintenance backlog, which has been decreased by over 16% over the last 7 years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can find the list of the most important proposed fees detailed below.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to car licence fees, motorcycle, trailer and caravan licence fees are also
