LG Electronics<\/a> South Africa has confirmed that it has appointed a new managing director to head the company’s local operations.<\/p>\n

LG Electronics has appointed I.L Hwang-Lee<\/a> as the new managing director for South Africa, after former MD, J.M Lee stepped down from the position at the end of December 2012.<\/p>\n

It is understood that Mr. Hwang-Lee moved to LG South Africa having worked at LG USA previously, taking up the position of MD as of January 2013.<\/p>\n

LG is one of the most prominent TV brands in South Africa, and competes directly against Samsung and Sony in the high-end TV market.<\/p>\n

Currently, LG holds 18% of the global TV market, trailing sector leader, Samsung Electronics Co, which has around 21% of the market.<\/p>\n

Japanese makers, led by the likes of Sony Corp<\/a>, Panasonic Corp<\/a> and Sharp Corp<\/a>, control around 30% of the global market share.<\/p>\n
