Cybersmart<\/a> and Web Africa<\/a> have reduced the prices of existing consumer and business uncapped ADSL products, following similar recent announcements by Telkom<\/a> and MWEB<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Web Africa has slashed the price of its uncapped ADSL prices by up to 32%, following a move of all its ADSL traffic to Internet Solutions’ (IS<\/a>) backbone.<\/p>\n

In addition to the uncapped ADSL price reductions, Web Africa is also planning to bundle roaming access to WiFi into their ADSL offering.<\/p>\n

“Internet Solutions has access to the most significant network of broadband hotspots in South Africa, and is busy extending this network along with other wireless technologies,” said Web Africa CEO, Tim Wyatt\u2013Gunning<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“In time, we plan to bundle roaming access to WiFi into our ADSL offering in a bid to meet the shifting demands of an ever more mobile consumer base.”<\/p>\n

Wyatt\u2013Gunning added that Web Africa is committed to ensuring that the internet is accessible to South Africans, and that offering competitive pricing is just one way of doing that.<\/p>\n

“Further price reductions can be expected across our other products in the next few months,” said Wyatt-Gunning.<\/p>\n

Cybersmart cuts<\/h3>\n

Cybersmart CEO Laurie Fialkov<\/a> explained that the ISP decided not to create another product with lower service levels and lower prices \u2013 which typically means that existing customers stay on the higher priced products.<\/p>\n

“We simply reduced the prices of our existing products and took the financial knock,” said Fialkov.<\/p>\n

“It was quite a significant financial knock, but if that is what Cybersmart is required to do to remain competitive and retain customer loyalty, we are glad to do it.<\/p>\n

The new prices are effective immediately, and existing Cybersmart customers will automatically be migrated to the lower rates.<\/p>\n
