{"id":314996,"date":"2019-05-05T08:19:57","date_gmt":"2019-05-05T06:19:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=314996"},"modified":"2019-05-05T08:19:57","modified_gmt":"2019-05-05T06:19:57","slug":"the-sabc-is-close-to-a-total-blackout-ceo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/media\/314996\/the-sabc-is-close-to-a-total-blackout-ceo\/","title":{"rendered":"The SABC is close to a total blackout: CEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The SABC is potentially facing a total broadcasting blackout because of spiraling debt woes and lack of relief funding, the Sunday Times reports.<\/p>\n<p>SABC CEO Madoda Mxakwe told the Sunday paper that the public broadcaster cannot pay its creditors and while the company\u2019s application for a R6.8 billion bailout was approved, the funds have not yet arrived.<\/p>\n<p>National Treasury agreed to provide the SABC with interim financial relief in March, to prevent the broadcaster from collapsing.
