{"id":315468,"date":"2019-05-08T15:30:26","date_gmt":"2019-05-08T13:30:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=315468"},"modified":"2019-05-08T17:44:02","modified_gmt":"2019-05-08T15:44:02","slug":"south-african-corporates-needs-to-rethink-the-way-it-employs-people-capitec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/banking\/315468\/south-african-corporates-needs-to-rethink-the-way-it-employs-people-capitec\/","title":{"rendered":"South African corporates need to rethink the way they employ people: Capitec"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a recent Twitter Q&amp;A with South Africa\u2019s youth, president Cyril Ramaphosa urged businesses to employ young people even if they don\u2019t have work experience.<\/p>\n<p>Previous work experience and a lack of quality education continue to be barriers to entry for many of South Africa\u2019s youth, says Nathan Motjuwadi, executive: human resources at Capitec Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Looking to government exclusively to solve the employment issues is not realistic, the private sector has a huge role to play in turning around South Africa\u2019s employment statistics which currently stand at a whopping 27.1% of the South African work force.<\/p>\n<p>Motjuwadi said that corporates need to rethink the way they employ and the way they view skills.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile there are initiatives in place to close the gap between education and the needs of businesses, corporates need to do more.
