{"id":318262,"date":"2019-05-22T09:00:24","date_gmt":"2019-05-22T07:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=318262"},"modified":"2019-05-22T09:01:50","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T07:01:50","slug":"uber-eats-launches-pick-up-service-in-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/technology\/318262\/uber-eats-launches-pick-up-service-in-south-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"Uber Eats launches pick-up service in South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Uber Eats has launched click and collect in South Africa, allowing customers to order and collect from their favourite restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>Uber said that the service will first launch in Johannesburg on Wednesday (22 May), with just under 400 restaurants participating including KFC&#8217;s, Krispy Kreme and Col&#8217;Cacchios and local favourites such as Banjaara, Coalition Pizza and Lexi&#8217;s Healthy Eatery.<\/p>\n<p>The price of the meals in-app will remain the same, and there is no charge to pick up a meal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want to support the growth of the restaurant industry and make our local communities more economically vibrant places to do business,&#8221; said Ailyssa Pretorius, GM of Uber Eats South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That\u2019s why we\u2019re launching a new service to help bricks and mortar restaurants grow their business, while providing users with a quick and convenient way to access food on-the-go.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Whether that\u2019s grabbing a coffee on the way to work or skipping the queue during the lunchtime rush.
