Listed ICT firm, Jasco<\/a> has entered into an agreement with\u00a0Telecom Namibia<\/a>,\u00a0to establish a total of four international Points of Presence (PoPs) connected into the Wacs<\/a> undersea cable.<\/p>\n

The project aims to bring down the cost of telecommunications, and provide cheaper Internet connectivity as Namibia will no longer have to route data traffic through South Africa.<\/p>\n

These PoPs, to be located in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Frankfurt and London, will be procured and built by NewTelco SA<\/a>, represented by Jasco Co-location Solutions,\u00a0\u00a0for exclusive use by Telecom Namibia.<\/p>\n

As part of the agreement, Telecom Namibia is currently making use of NewTelco\u2019s existing infrastructure until the dedicated infrastructure is built.<\/p>\n

Namibia was the second country to extend the reach of their network into Europe on the Wacs cable.<\/p>\n

Further phases, such as additional PoPs and the extension of its national infrastructure, will enable Namibia to further extend these services and access new technologies such as Voice over IP and cloud services, it said.<\/p>\n
