{"id":325651,"date":"2019-06-27T17:00:53","date_gmt":"2019-06-27T15:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=325651"},"modified":"2019-06-27T17:08:01","modified_gmt":"2019-06-27T15:08:01","slug":"top-5-best-selling-smartwatches-in-the-world-right-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/technology\/325651\/top-5-best-selling-smartwatches-in-the-world-right-now\/","title":{"rendered":"Top 5 best-selling smartwatches in the world right now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Global smartwatch shipments grew a healthy rate of 41% year-on-year (YoY) in 2018 driven by popular brands such as Apple, imoo, Fitbit, and Samsung according to the latest research from Counterpoint\u2019s Global Smartwatch Tracker.<\/p>\n<p>Counterpoint research analyst, Satyajit Sinha, said that Apple Watch Series 4 remains the star performer\u00a0 &#8211; selling 11.5 million units in 2018 alone.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We believe its success was due to its focus on health-related features like ECG and fall detection,&#8221; said Sinha.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Further, it speaks volumes of how far Apple has come with Apple Watch as a meaningful health device.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sinha added that the overall smartwatch segment is going through a phase of evolution of cellular capabilities, which will turn them into true standalone wearable devices.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Players like Apple, imoo, Samsung, Huawei, Ticwatch, and other kids watch brands were the early adopters. However, Apple and imoo cellular smartwatch contributed to 13% and 10% of 2018 shipments, respectively,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Share-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-325659 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Share-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1007\" height=\"567\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Share-2.png 1200w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Share-2-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Share-2-768x433.png 768w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Share-2-1024x577.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1007px) 100vw, 1007px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Most popular smartwatches<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The top five best-selling smartwatches accounted for 48% of the market in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Three out of the top five models came from Apple. For Fitbit, the launch of the Verse smartwatch was a turning point as the brand was struggling to get a foothold in the market.<\/p>\n<p>The other entrant in the top five best-selling models list was imoo\u2019s Z3, a 4G LTE based kids watch.
