However, the Public Protector says that the president would have to get an interdict to stay her findings &#8211; as a review is not the same thing. [Daily Maverick]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesslive.co.za\/bd\/national\/2019-07-02-weak-economy-threatens-sarss-revenue-target-again\/\">South Africa&#8217;s weak economy is once again threatening to cause SARS to miss its tax collection targets.<\/a><\/strong> The revenue service is targeting collection of R1.422 trillion for the 2019\/2020 season, but commissioner Edward Kieswetter said that it could very well miss this, as pressure from the battered economy hits consumers and businesses alike. [Business Day]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Gauteng premier David Makhura said that the provincial government is committed to getting rid of e-tolls in the province, and said that he is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.enca.com\/news\/makhura-meet-mbalula-over-e-tolls\">meeting with Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula to discuss the path forward<\/a><\/strong>. The DA in the province, however, says that it is giving the premier<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ewn.co.za\/2019\/07\/01\/scrap-e-tolls-or-we-will-take-action-msimanga-tells-makhura\"> until the end of August to come up with a solution<\/a><\/strong>, or it will force action. [ENCA, EWN]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fin24.com\/Economy\/eff-informant-in-manuel-defamation-case-well-respected-willing-to-testify-says-shivambu-20190702-2\">The EFF is turning to the Supreme Court of Appeal to overturn a High Court ruling that the party defamed former minister Trevor Manuel<\/a><\/strong>, and had to pay R500,000. In the new appeal bid, the EFF says the source of the (incorrect) information claiming Manuel was biased and nepotistic regarding SARS commissioner Edward Kieswetter is willing to testify &#8211; but not reveal his identity to Manuel and his legal team.
