{"id":327703,"date":"2019-07-05T12:12:39","date_gmt":"2019-07-05T10:12:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=327703"},"modified":"2019-07-05T12:12:39","modified_gmt":"2019-07-05T10:12:39","slug":"watch-ramaphosa-delivers-speech-via-hologram","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/technology\/327703\/watch-ramaphosa-delivers-speech-via-hologram\/","title":{"rendered":"Watch: Ramaphosa delivers speech via hologram"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Ramaphosa presented his speech at South Africa&#8217;s first Digital Economy Summit via hologram.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand on Friday (5 July), Ramaphosa&#8217;s address was simultaneous broadcast as a holographic image to the Rustenburg Civic Centre, the Department of Telecommunications.<\/p>\n<p>Ramaphosa used the address to talk on the establishment of the new Fourth Industrial Commission and the importance of technology to South Africa&#8217;s future.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services (DTPS) this is the first live holographic broadcast of a Head of State.<\/p>\n<p>A 3D hologram is a projection that exists freely in space and is visible without the need for 3D glasses.<\/p>\n<p>It displays products, objects, and animated sequences three-dimensionally and enables seemingly real objects or animations to appear to float completely freely in space.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">[ President Cyril Ramaphosa addressing the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/DigitalEconomySummit?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#DigitalEconomySummit<\/a> in Midrand.
