that the chamber opted to address the media instead of raising its members’ concerns through the channels of engagement it knows and has used in the past.

“For the benefit of its (the chamber’s) members, we would like to remind them that on Monday, 04 March 2013, Minister Dina Pule met with the ICT Policy Review Panel set up by the Minister,” the DoC said.

“This panel has representatives from across all sectors of society, including a member the Cape Chamber of Commerce lobbied for successfully.”

In its defence against the chamber’s claims of lack of governance and delivery from the department, the DoC highlighted the processes involved with the ICT Policy Review Panel, the Broadband Policy workshop and the ICT Policy Colloquium, which the department drives to improve ICT in the country.

“Let the DoC be clear: ICT in SA is flourishing because of the current policies in place in SA,” the DoC said.

“However, the DoC understands that technology, environmental, industry and individual needs are a constantly changing factor in the ICT field and as such the DoC is continually revising and revisiting policies to introduce policies which create the enabling environment required by businesses.”

More on the DoC and Dina Pule

Pule saga affecting business confidence

The strange choice of communications ministers

Pule acted unlawfully on TV-signal deal: report

DoC to drop digital TV decoder appeal

Pule faces the chop in reshuffle – report

The DoC has hit back at strong comments made by the Cape Chamber of Commerce, saying that ICT is flourishing in the country.

[1
5292,1087,1083,1444,26
post-33082","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-trending","tag-cape-chamber-of-commerce","tag-department-of-communications","tag-dina-pule","tag-doc","tag-headline
["GET
