MTN has\u00a0received an interim order granted in favour of voice and bulk sms carrier, Telfree, after the operator denied it access to its network.<\/p>\n
The Telfree Group is a privately-owned group of companies headquartered in Switzerland, with operations in\u00a0South Africa, Switzerland, Austria and the UK\u00a0 providing value-added communication services of the next generation.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for MTN said that\u00a0the North Gauteng High Court had\u00a0handed down an interim order for MTN to restore its services for Telfree, last week.<\/p>\n
Telfree CEO Walter Betschel told ITWeb that MTN and Telfree could not reach an interconnect agreement that would settle the charge to Telfree when it sent SMSes to people who were MTN subscribers.<\/p>\n
MTN said it would not elaborate on the charges noting that it did not wish to\u00a0conduct its defence through the media.<\/p>\n
\u201cMTN can confirm that it has received an Interim Order granted in favour of Telfree. As this is an Interim Order, MTN has not had the opportunity to respond to the allegations raised by Telfree and will only be able to do so on the return date, being 17 April 2013.<\/p>\n
“As this matter is before court it is sub judice but MTN is confident that it has taken whatever steps within the parameters of applicable laws.<\/p>\n
