{"id":335977,"date":"2019-08-21T11:14:08","date_gmt":"2019-08-21T09:14:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=335977"},"modified":"2019-08-21T11:14:24","modified_gmt":"2019-08-21T09:14:24","slug":"south-africa-inflation-rate-drops-to-six-month-low-in-july","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/335977\/south-africa-inflation-rate-drops-to-six-month-low-in-july\/","title":{"rendered":"South Africa inflation rate drops to six-month low in July"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Africa\u2019s annual inflation rate fell to a six-month low in July.<\/p>\n<p>Consumer price growth slowed to 4% from 4.5% in June, the Pretoria-based Statistics South Africa said Wednesday in an emailed statement.<\/p>\n<p>The median estimate of 15 economists in a Bloomberg survey was 4.3%.<\/p>\n<p>Key Insights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Inflation has remained at or below the 4.5% midpoint of the central bank\u2019s target band every month since December, the longest such streak in more than eight years.<\/li>\n<li>The Monetary Policy Committee revised its inflation forecast for the year to 4.4% from 4.5% at its July meeting.
