{"id":33661,"date":"2013-03-15T09:42:40","date_gmt":"2013-03-15T07:42:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=33661"},"modified":"2013-03-15T11:18:13","modified_gmt":"2013-03-15T09:18:13","slug":"mtn-execs-cleared-in-tax-evasion-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/33661\/mtn-execs-cleared-in-tax-evasion-case\/","title":{"rendered":"MTN execs cleared of fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has withdrawn a court case previously brought under private prosecution against a number of <a title=\"MTN\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1640-MTN-Group\">MTN<\/a> Uganda executives, citing a lack of\u00a0evidence.<\/p>\n<p>MTN president and CEO <a title=\"Sifiso Dabengwa\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1729-Sifiso-Dabengwa\">Sifiso Dabengwa<\/a>, Uganda board chairman Charles Mbiire and 11 others were accused of fraud by a former employee.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The chief magistrate of the Buganda Road Court has formally accepted the withdrawal of the case.
