{"id":337209,"date":"2019-08-27T15:51:13","date_gmt":"2019-08-27T13:51:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=337209"},"modified":"2019-08-27T15:54:36","modified_gmt":"2019-08-27T13:54:36","slug":"government-to-introduce-harsh-measures-to-enforce-transformation-in-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/337209\/government-to-introduce-harsh-measures-to-enforce-transformation-in-south-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"Government to introduce &#8216;harsh measures&#8217; to enforce transformation in South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of Employment and Labour Thulas Nxesi has expressed concern at the slow pace of workplace transformation and has promised that government will now introduce &#8216;harsh measures&#8217; to ensure transformation in South African workplaces.<\/p>\n<p>This will include the fast-tracking of amendments to the Employment Equity (EE) Act, he said in a departmental presentation on Tuesday (27 August).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our intention is to resuscitate legislation that could not go through. We hope Parliament will prioritise the bills because their amendments were at (an) advanced stage,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Nxesi said that those who do not comply with the laws of the country must &#8216;face the music and be punished&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are not just talking about a single solution, but a range of solutions to deal with problems in the economy and workplace\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0Transformation\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Nxesi was speaking during the launch of the Commission for Employment Equity&#8217;s latest transformation report.<\/p>\n<p>The findings &#8211;
