Another SABC board member has handed in her resignation and left the company, according to media reports.<\/p>\n
As reported in the City Press, SABC board member, Pippa Green has left.<\/p>\n
Parliament\u2019s portfolio committee on communications chairperson Sikhumbuzo Kholwane announced that Green, who is out of the country, informed him\u00a0this morning of her decision, the report said.<\/p>\n
Claire O\u2019Neil and Suzanne Vos are the only SABC board members that remain.<\/p>\n
The latest resignation follows the exodus of six board members on Monday (18 March 2013), after a turbulent time at the broadcaster.<\/p>\n
Last week, the Presidency received a joint resignation letter from the chairperson of the Board Dr Ben Ngubane and his Deputy Mr Thami ka Plaatjie and has also since accepted their resignations.<\/p>\n
In light of the resignations, Kholwane indicated that it was likely that the SABC board would be dissolved.<\/p>\n
\u201cEffectively we are looking at a period of two to three months to fill the vacancies\u2026,\u201d said Kholwane.<\/p>\n
This would lead to the board not having a quorum, and being unable to meet for months to approve key decisions at the broadcaster.<\/p>\n
The second scenario would be for the committee to dissolve the board, but under a tight deadline.<\/p>\n
\u201cSurely, if the committee says let\u2019s dissolve what\u2019s remaining of the board, which will be in line with the act, after the presentation of the minister,\u2026 what it means is we must recommend five names to the president to be able to have an interim board,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
