{"id":339479,"date":"2019-09-08T08:35:02","date_gmt":"2019-09-08T06:35:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=339479"},"modified":"2019-09-08T08:35:02","modified_gmt":"2019-09-08T06:35:02","slug":"saving-r1000-each-month-in-your-20s-vs-in-your-40s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wealth\/339479\/saving-r1000-each-month-in-your-20s-vs-in-your-40s\/","title":{"rendered":"Saving R1,000 each month in your 20s vs in your 40s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">The second 10X Retirement Reality Report (RRR19) reveals the worsening state of South Africa\u2019s private retirement savings crisis and its pending impact on government resources in the coming years.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The RRR19 \u2013 the findings of a survey of more than 15-million economically active South Africans \u2013 shows that 67% of people have no retirement plan at all or just a vague one.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The report, commissioned by 10X Investments, reveals a profound lack of understanding among existing clients of the retirement savings industry regarding what they have actually saved and what they will need to have saved to preserve their lifestyle in retirement.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The poll further highlights some worrying trends across South African demographics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">72% of those who do have some sort of a plan are concerned that they will not have enough money saved to live on after they retire<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">77% of those who do have some sort of a plan accept that they will need to continue earning an income after they retire<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">72% of women across all demographics either have no retirement savings plan at all or only have a vague plan.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Founder and CEO of 10X Investments, Steven Nathan, said: \u201cSouth Africa\u2019s retirement time bomb is ticking ever louder.
