{"id":341403,"date":"2019-09-17T12:41:39","date_gmt":"2019-09-17T10:41:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=341403"},"modified":"2019-09-17T12:41:39","modified_gmt":"2019-09-17T10:41:39","slug":"sa-post-office-is-working-on-issues-with-credit-and-debit-card-payments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/finance\/341403\/sa-post-office-is-working-on-issues-with-credit-and-debit-card-payments\/","title":{"rendered":"SA Post Office is working on issues with credit and debit card payments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In August, the South African Post Office (Sapo) <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/334407\/sa-post-office-now-accepts-debit-and-credit-cards-for-car-licence-renewals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a> <\/strong>that it now accepts debit and credit cards as a payment method for the renewal of motor vehicle licences at select branches.<\/p>\n<p>While the announcement was met with general positivity, BusinessTech received a number of complaints from readers indicating that they were unable to use the new functionality.<\/p>\n<p>One reader travelled to three separate branches on the same day, with each outlet indicating that the facility was unavailable.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to an emailed query from BusinessTech Refilwe Kekana, CIO of the SA Post Office, said that the Sapo had rolled out the service but was currently addressing a number of hiccups.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The SA Post Office has rolled out card payments for MVL at the branches in the list earlier communicated,&#8221;
