{"id":34457,"date":"2013-03-31T00:01:25","date_gmt":"2013-03-30T22:01:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=34457"},"modified":"2013-03-31T00:02:56","modified_gmt":"2013-03-30T22:02:56","slug":"lenovo-takes-aim-at-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/hardware\/34457\/lenovo-takes-aim-at-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"Lenovo takes aim at Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PC and\u00a0mobile device manufacturer Lenovo is targeting the top position in Africa, with a planned expansion on the\u00a0continent.<\/p>\n<p>A Lenovo delegation, led by Graham Braum, Lenovo Africa general manager, met with representatives from government and private organisations, as well as business partners in Namibia, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana, to reinforce its\u2019s commitment to Africa and outline the company\u2019s business and PC+ strategy in the continent.<\/p>\n<p>Lenovo said that as it marks its milestone achievement in securing the number two position in the market among PC manufacturers worldwide, it recognises the strategic importance of Africa in becoming the number one PC manufacturer.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, IDC found that Lenovo has taken the number two position in the EMEA PC market, fueled by the company\u2019s growth and success in Russia, Germany, Denmark and Lebanon, where the company is ranked first. &#8220;With the planned expansion in Africa, the manufacturer aims for the number one spot,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe African continent is one of Lenovo\u2019s key growth markets and this Africa roadshow re-affirms our commitment to customers and partners in Africa,\u201d said Braum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ICT sector is continuously developing in Africa and technology plays a key role in the development and economic growth of countries; that is why, it is important for Lenovo to bring innovative smart connected devices to Africa to empower businesses and consumers. This further complements our mission to become the leader in PC+, by addressing the increasing demand to stay connected on different devices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExpanding our operations across Africa is in line with our global \u2018Protect and Attack\u2019 strategy where we attack areas of greatest potential and protect areas where we have a strong lead.
