The world\u2019s 50 best bars for 2019 were announced at an awards ceremony in London on Thursday (3 October).<\/p>\n

The 50 Best is an annual ranking voted for by more than 500 drinks experts from around the world. It\u2019s owned and organized by William Reed Business Media, the group behind the World\u2019s 50 Best Restaurants awards.<\/p>\n

Dante, a bar in New York\u2019s Greenwich Village, was named as the best bar in the world, with the establishment winning a number of awards since the current owners took over in 2015.<\/p>\n

Second place went to the luxurious Connaught Bar\u00a0<\/a>in London, followed by Florer\u00eda Atl\u00e1ntico in Buenos Aires.<\/p>\n

Below are the top 10 bars as well as their locations:<\/p>\n

  5. American<\/strong> Bar<\/strong> – London<\/li>\n
  6. The<\/strong> Clumsies<\/strong> – Athens<\/li>\n
  7. Attaboy<\/strong> – New York<\/li>\n
  8. Atlas<\/strong> – Singapore<\/li>\n
  9. The<\/strong> Old<\/strong> Man<\/strong> – Hong Kong<\/li>\n
  10. Licorer\u00eda Limantour<\/strong> – Mexico City<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    South Africa\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The list was dominated by European, Asian and American bars with the UK leading the 2019 list with 10 bars, followed closely by the US with seven bars.<\/p>\n

    In comparison, just one South African bar featured in the top 100 – Sin+Tax <\/strong>located in Rosebank in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n

    Located behind the popular Coalition eatery,\u00a0 the cocktail bar is headed up by the renowned mixologist Julian Short who has previously worked in Sweden, Mexico, Scotland and Cuba.<\/p>\n

    Local reviewers<\/a> <\/strong>have praised the bar’s unique setting, unique cocktails such as “Lucy in the Sky with Black Diamonds” as well as the swift and knowledgeable waiters.<\/p>\n
