{"id":34977,"date":"2013-04-05T13:13:00","date_gmt":"2013-04-05T11:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=34977"},"modified":"2013-05-22T13:13:08","modified_gmt":"2013-05-22T11:13:08","slug":"icasa-responds-to-iburstwbs-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/telecommunications\/34977\/icasa-responds-to-iburstwbs-issue\/","title":{"rendered":"Icasa responds to iBurst\/WBS issue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Independent Communications of South Africa Authority (ICASA) confirmed that it has \u201csealed and seized WBS [and hence iBurst] radio communication equipment at six Gauteng sites\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>iBurst\u2019s network went down on Wednesday morning after ICASA confiscated some of the company\u2019s core network equipment hosted in the MTN Gallo Manor data centre and other sites in Gauteng.<\/p>\n<p>This action by ICASA lead to a widespread outage on the iBurst network, but the company started to bypass the affected areas to bring clients back online.<\/p>\n<p>To date ICASA was mum on the issue, but has now issued a press statement to clarify its position.<\/p>\n<p>ICASA confirmed that has sealed and seized WBS radio communication equipment at six Gauteng sites.
