{"id":354979,"date":"2019-11-18T14:58:00","date_gmt":"2019-11-18T12:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=354979"},"modified":"2019-11-18T14:58:00","modified_gmt":"2019-11-18T12:58:00","slug":"south-africas-car-of-the-year-contenders-for-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/motoring\/354979\/south-africas-car-of-the-year-contenders-for-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"South Africa&#8217;s car of the year contenders for 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>C<span class=\"st\">ar marketplace<\/span> AutoTrader has launched its South African Car of the Year awards for 2020.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 48 vehicles from 21 original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) qualify to be in the running to be named a semi-finalist. The vehicles were all launched in the period from 1 November 2018 up to and including 31 October 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe made a number of meaningful changes to the competition last year \u2013 including the introduction of an online consumer vote and the inclusion of five categories,&#8221; said Rubin van Niekerk, chairman of the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists (SAGMJ).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This year, we are happy to introduce a further two categories,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The seven categories for 2020 are: Family, Leisure, Lifestyle, Premium Car, Premium SUV, Sport, and Urban.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The announcement of the semi-finalists takes place on 25 November 2019.
