{"id":35678,"date":"2013-04-12T17:35:54","date_gmt":"2013-04-12T15:35:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=35678"},"modified":"2013-04-12T17:38:37","modified_gmt":"2013-04-12T15:38:37","slug":"altech-expects-to-extend-its-losses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/telecommunications\/35678\/altech-expects-to-extend-its-losses\/","title":{"rendered":"Altech expects to extend its losses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"JSE\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1663-JSE-Limited\">JSE<\/a>-listed\u00a0<a title=\"Allied Technologies Limited (Altech, ALT)\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1725-Altech\">Allied Technologies Limited<\/a>\u00a0(Altech) has advised that its headline earnings and adjusted headline earnings per share for the year ended February 2013, are expected to be between 20% and 27% lower than previously.<\/p>\n<p>The group said its basic earnings per share are expected to reflect a loss of between 950 cents and 970 cents, compared to a loss of 283 cents in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese reductions are primarily due to poor results in Altech\u00b4s East and West African operations, both of which have been disposed of with effect from 28 February 2013.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe remaining operations within Altech are performing satisfactorily,\u201d Altech said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Altron<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Parent company Allied Electronics (Altron), meanwhile also advised on Friday (12 April) that its headline earnings per share for the financial year ended February 2013 is expected to be lower by between 27% and 32%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHeadline earnings per share has been affected by a very challenging second half for the Powertech operations, particularly in the Cables business, as well as the trading losses incurred by Altech\u00b4s East and West African operations prior to their disposal,&#8221;
