{"id":357473,"date":"2019-11-27T09:00:24","date_gmt":"2019-11-27T07:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=357473"},"modified":"2019-11-27T09:00:24","modified_gmt":"2019-11-27T07:00:24","slug":"lime-electric-scooter-service-launching-in-cape-town","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/technology\/357473\/lime-electric-scooter-service-launching-in-cape-town\/","title":{"rendered":"Lime electric scooter service launching in Cape Town"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>E<span class=\"st\">lectric scooter and bike rentals<\/span> company Lime will launch its service in Cape Town in early 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The initial fleet of scooters will be available at &#8216;strategic, privately-owned locations throughout the city&#8217;, the group said in a statement on Tuesday (26 November).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Cape Town is helping lead the way forward on technology and innovation in Africa, and we\u2019re excited to be a part of that story,\u201d said Wayne Ting, global head of operations and strategy at Lime.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our mission is to improve urban living through sustainable, affordable transportation, and we\u2019re looking forward to extending meaningful mobility access and reduced carbon emissions to South Africans living in and travelling to Cape Town.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>With the addition of Cape Town to its global ridership community, Ting said that Lime will now offer micro-mobility services on six continents worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Lime-3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-357489 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Lime-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"363\" height=\"731\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Lime-3.png 363w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Lime-3-149x300.png 149w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 363px) 100vw, 363px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lime currently works through a mobile app &#8211;
