Adzuna<\/a>, a new venture-backed next generation job search engine, has been unveiled publicly in South Africa on Tuesday (16 April).<\/p>\n

The site, launched by the team behind Gumtree.com<\/a>, has gained significant traction in the UK with its social job hunting tools, real-time labour market data and powerful search.<\/p>\n

Adzuna’s creators have now brought its technology and free, open data to South Africa.\u00a0The group has an international team in London, in Clapham, according to country manager for South Africa,\u00a0James Maskell<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With over 50,000 live job vacancies in SA that represent R16.9 billion of \u2018Total Earning Opportunity\u2019, Adzuna says it collates the latest job ads in real-time from all major job boards.<\/p>\n

The site also includes a social layer which enables users to gain advantage in the job search process by using their Facebook<\/a> and LinkedIn<\/a> contacts.<\/p>\n

The free service, which currently powers the British Prime Minister\u2019s economic data dashboard, brings together vacancy maps, salary trends, and company hiring patterns.<\/p>\n

Adzuna provides rich data for over 1 million job titles and location combinations; from demand for Java Developers in Jo\u2019burg, to the top companies hiring cooks in Cape Town.<\/p>\n

Andrew Hunter<\/a>, co-founder of Adzuna, said: \u201cWe believe the 4.5 million people out of work in South Africa are underserved by the tools currently available in the market. Our aim is to arm job seekers in South Africa with all the information they need to find their perfect job.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adzuna was founded in 2011 by Andrew Hunter and Doug Monro, formerly of eBay<\/a>, Gumtree, Qype and Zoopla and is backed by venture capital firms Passion Capital, The Accelerator Group and Index Ventures.<\/p>\n
