The leaders at the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA<\/a>) and the Department of Communications (DoC<\/a>) earn between R1-million and R2-million per year \u2013 give or take a few thousand.<\/p>\n

ICASA’s annual report for the year ending 31 March 2012 revealed that the regulator’s chairperson Stephen Mncube<\/a> was paid R1.3 million per year.<\/p>\n

However, Mncube was not the best paid ICASA employee. The ICASA CEO Themba Dlamini<\/a> was paid R1.7 million per year.<\/p>\n

Each ICASA councillor earned just over R1 million per year, while general managers at the regulator were paid R923,541 per year.<\/p>\n

Communications minister Dina Pule<\/a> and deputy minister Stella Ndabeni<\/a> earned R2 million and R1.65 million respectively over the last financial year.<\/p>\n
