{"id":36119,"date":"2013-04-19T08:38:32","date_gmt":"2013-04-19T06:38:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=36119"},"modified":"2013-04-19T09:09:47","modified_gmt":"2013-04-19T07:09:47","slug":"cell-c-threatens-legal-action-against-icasa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/36119\/cell-c-threatens-legal-action-against-icasa\/","title":{"rendered":"Cell C threatens legal action against Icasa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Cell C\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1641-Cell-C\">Cell C<\/a> chief executive <a title=\"Alan Knott-Craig\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1642-Alan-Knott-Craig-%28Senior%29\">Alan Knott-Craig<\/a> has warned of legal action if the telecoms regulator does not cut mobile termination rates by the end of the year, according to a report on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I will use everything in my power to get <a title=\"Icasa\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/2027-ICASA-Independent-Communications-Authority-of-SA\">Icasa<\/a> [Independent Communications Authority of SA] to do its job,&#8221; Knott-Craig told Business Day newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have to protect our company and the industry. It is also in the interest of consumers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mobile termination rates are the fees that mobile operators pay to carry each other&#8217;s calls on their networks.
