{"id":36202,"date":"2013-04-19T15:54:17","date_gmt":"2013-04-19T13:54:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=36202"},"modified":"2013-04-19T15:55:35","modified_gmt":"2013-04-19T13:55:35","slug":"mtn-bidding-for-maroc-telecom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/telecommunications\/36202\/mtn-bidding-for-maroc-telecom\/","title":{"rendered":"MTN bidding for Maroc Telecom?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South African operator MTN is believed to be vying for a 53% stake in Maroc Telecom, currently held by France-based Vivendi S.A.<\/p>\n<p>MTN is believed to be in talks with several banks to raise funding for the deal, believed to be worth $6 billion, according to UK based news provider TMT Finance, who cited three sources.<\/p>\n<p>The preliminary bid deadline for the deal is set for 22 April.<\/p>\n<p>MTN, however, said it would not be drawn into speculation. &#8220;In line with internal corporate governance, as well as JSE requirements, MTN does not comment on market speculation,&#8221;
