SA online retailer, Kalahari.com has appointed Hidde van der Louw as its new general manager for retail and marketplace.<\/p>\n

Van der Louw joins Kalahari from online retailer for the Netherlands and Beligium, bol.com, where he has four years of experience as director of categories, buying & merchandising at the company. He also holds a Masters in Communications from Amsterdam University.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is far more intricate to grow an online retailer in South Africa than it is in Europe, where eCommerce is well established; but this is a challenge I am ready for and excited about,\u201d van der Louw said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe improvement of communication infrastructure, mainly the availability, prices and quality of broadband will be significant in fast tracking the growth of the local eCommerce industry in the next few years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Van der Louw\u2019s will be managing the commercial forefront of Kalahari.com, which also includes product and category management as the site is known for books, eBooks, cameras, and electronics amongst other products.<\/p>\n

He will also be working to enhance accessibility to the site and increase user-friendliness of the site itself.<\/p>\n

The appointment will ensure that Kalahari.com stays on par with global online retailer trends, the retailer said.<\/p>\n
