{"id":365546,"date":"2020-01-11T09:51:37","date_gmt":"2020-01-11T07:51:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=365546"},"modified":"2020-01-11T09:51:37","modified_gmt":"2020-01-11T07:51:37","slug":"jabu-mabuza-resigns-as-eskom-chair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/365546\/jabu-mabuza-resigns-as-eskom-chair\/","title":{"rendered":"Jabu Mabuza resigns as Eskom chair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eskom chairman Jabu Mabuza has\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thepresidency.gov.za\/press-statements\/president-ramaphosa-notes-resignation-eskom-chair-mr-jabu-mabuza\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>resigned<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0from his position at the power utility.<\/p>\n<p>His resignation took place today, 10 January 2020, and followed several days of consistent load-shedding.<\/p>\n<p>The office of President Cyril Ramaphosa said Mabuza wrote a letter as part of his resignation announcement, in which he apologised for Eskom\u2019s inability to meet the commitment it made to the president to avoid load-shedding from 11 December 2019 to 13 January 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEskom presented plans to ensure that the risk of load-shedding would be eliminated during the holiday period until 13 January 2020. Eskom also outlined the risks affecting the national grid,\u201d said Ramaphosa\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPublic Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has accepted Mr Mabuza\u2019s resignation.
