{"id":3663,"date":"2012-01-24T13:06:54","date_gmt":"2012-01-24T13:06:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=3663"},"modified":"2012-11-14T16:33:44","modified_gmt":"2012-11-14T14:33:44","slug":"cell-c-mum-on-management-exodus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/3663\/cell-c-mum-on-management-exodus\/","title":{"rendered":"Cell C mum on management exodus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/213919-Cell-C\" target=\"_blank\">Cell C <\/a>recently announced that former <a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/227063-Vodacom\" target=\"_blank\">Vodacom<\/a> CEO, <a title=\"Person Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/224891-Alan-Knott-Craig-%28Senior%29\" target=\"_blank\">Alan Knott-Craig,<\/a> will join the company as the new chief executive. This follows the resignation of ex-CEO, <a title=\"Person Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/210083-Lars-Reichelt\" target=\"_blank\">Lars Reichelt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since Reichelt\u2019s sudden departure in July 2011, there have been a slew of high-level resignations at Cell C &#8211; including Chief Information Officer, <a title=\"Person Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/265143-Ron-Reddick\" target=\"_blank\">Ron Reddick<\/a>; Executive Head of Marketing, <a title=\"Person Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/304057-Simon-Camerer\" target=\"_blank\">Simon Camerer;<\/a> and <a title=\"Person Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/346009-Sue-Kennedy\" target=\"_blank\">Sue Kennedy<\/a>, Cell C\u2019s executive head of sales.<\/p>\n<p>Reichelt cited personal reasons for his sudden resignation, while Cell C\u2019s \u2018restructuring\u2019 was blamed for the other departures.<\/p>\n<p>There is industry speculation that some of these resignations were not voluntary departures, but rather forced resignations (that is to say, they had been fired).<\/p>\n<p>Cell C chairman and acting CEO, <a title=\"Person Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/349634-Simon-Duffy\" target=\"_blank\">Simon Duffy<\/a>, would not comment on these departures.<\/p>\n<p>When faced with questions as to whether some of the executives were fired as rumoured &#8211; and why we have seen so many high level resignations at the company &#8211; Duffy stated that they \u201cwant to focus on the future and not dwell on the past.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These resignations make it easier for Knott-Craig, who will start as CEO at Cell C on 1 April 2012, to bring in his own management team.<\/p>\n<p>Knott-Craig, however, told MyBroadband BusinessTech that he doubts that the management departures had anything to do with him taking over at the company.<\/p>\n<p>Knott-Craig added that he will not actively try to entice Vodacom executives to join him, but that it would be \u201cnice\u201d if he could get some of the senior Vodacom staff to work under him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related Article<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"BussinessTech Article\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/telecommunications\/3509\/i-wont-nick-vodacom-staff-alan-knott-craig\/\"><strong>\u201cI won\u2019t nick Vodacom staff\u201d: Alan Knott-Craig<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Acting CEO of Cell C, Simon Duffy, dodges questions about the loss of a large portion of the company&#8217;s management team <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":3669,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[34],"tags":[43,42,26,50,47,44],"class_list":["post-3663","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-mobile","tag-alan-knott-craig","tag-cell-c","tag-headline","tag-ron-reddick","tag-simon-camerer","tag-simon-duffy"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3663","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=3663"}],"version-history":[{"count":10,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3663\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":26536,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3663\/revisions\/26536"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/3669"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3663"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=3663"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=3663"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
