It adds that the position is open from 1 April 2020 &#8211; October 2020, with accommodation and food provided.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants are expected to welcome visitors, manage cottages, and run a coffee shop.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">** Job Vacancy **<br \/>\nA unique position required &#8211; looking for long term management of Island Accommodation and Coffee Shop. Couple or two friends.<br \/>\n1st April 2020 &#8211; October 2020 accommodation and food provided.<br \/>\nEmail Alice on info@greatblasketisland.net for more information <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/RJFfrr4QDH\">pic.twitter.com\/RJFfrr4QDH<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Great Blasket Island (@gbisland) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gbisland\/status\/1215542765586612225?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 10, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Speaking in an interview with Ireland&#8217;s national broadcaster <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/news\/business\/2020\/0114\/1107302-huge-interest-in-jobs-on-the-great-blasket-island\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RTE<\/a><\/strong>, advertiser Alice Hayes said that there has been significant interest in the position.<\/p>\n<p>However, she cautioned that while the island is beautiful and idyllic, it is &#8216;off the grid&#8217; meaning there is no electricity, or WiFi, and no hot showers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s intense and tough but it&#8217;s a very unique position,&#8221; Alice Hayes said. &#8220;It&#8217;s back to basics &#8211; fires, candles, stoves, wildlife and nature.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We use gas hobs in the cottages and the coffee shop. We have gas canisters out the back.
