{"id":368776,"date":"2020-01-28T13:59:14","date_gmt":"2020-01-28T11:59:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=368776"},"modified":"2020-01-28T13:59:14","modified_gmt":"2020-01-28T11:59:14","slug":"here-is-what-it-takes-to-join-south-africas-army-in-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/368776\/here-is-what-it-takes-to-join-south-africas-army-in-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Here is what it takes to join South Africa\u2019s army in 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Western Cape government has published a new outline of the requirements for joining the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The outline states that one of the most common ways to currently enter the SANDF is through the Military Skills Development System (MSDS).<\/p>\n<p>The Military Skills Development System (MSDS) is a two-year voluntary service system that allows young South African citizens to serve in uniform.<\/p>\n<p>Successful MSDS candidates will receive basic military training, specific mustering and functional training in the first year and be utilised or deployed internally or externally in the second year of the MSDS.<\/p>\n<p>After the two years, you will either continue as part of the reserve force or receive a contract offer to join the regular force.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To qualify for the MSDS programme, you have to meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be a South African citizen only.
