{"id":3729,"date":"2012-01-24T04:42:04","date_gmt":"2012-01-24T04:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=3729"},"modified":"2012-11-14T15:44:42","modified_gmt":"2012-11-14T13:44:42","slug":"ict-industry-whos-in-and-whos-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/telecommunications\/3729\/ict-industry-whos-in-and-whos-out\/","title":{"rendered":"ICT industry: Who&#8217;s in and who&#8217;s out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>January has already sparked a number of high profile appointments and resignations within the information and communications technology (ICT) sector, led by industry stalwarts <a title=\"Person Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/212663-Rudi-Jansen\" target=\"_blank\">Rudi Jansen<\/a> and <a title=\"Person Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/224891-Alan-Knott-Craig-%28Senior%29\" target=\"_blank\">Alan Knott-Craig<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a list of some of the biggest executive moves in January so far:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/213919-Cell-C\" target=\"_blank\">Cell C<\/a> appointed Alan Knott-Craig as the new CEO on 19 January 2012. Knott Craig will join the company and the Cell C Board of Directors on 1 April 2012.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Listed technology group <a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/238471-Altech-UEC\" target=\"_blank\">Altech<\/a> (ATN) announced the resignation of its group chief operating officer, <a title=\"Person Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/226928-Jeffrey-Hedberg\" target=\"_blank\">Jeffrey Hedberg<\/a>, effective at the end of January 2012. Hedberg was formerly acting CEO of <a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mygaming.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/20289-Telkom\" target=\"_blank\">Telkom<\/a> (TKG).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Person Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/378760-Dave-Miller\" target=\"_blank\">Dave Miller<\/a>, CEO of <a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/378758-Incredible-Connection\" target=\"_blank\">Incredible Connection<\/a>, a subsidiary of JSE-listed JD Group (JDG), tended his resignation and will leave the group at the end of January. Chief financial officer, Stefan Marnewick, will take the role of acting chief executive until \u201csuch time as we find a suitable replacement,\u201d said JD Group CEO Grattan Kirk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>10 January: Rudi Jansen, Group CEO of <a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/226947-MWeb\" target=\"_blank\">MWEB<\/a>, resigned after 15 years of working at the company. He is set to leave MWEB at the end of February 2012, after which he will be pursuing new business interests outside the ISP sector. <a title=\"Person Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/394857-Francois-Theron\" target=\"_blank\">Francois Theron<\/a>, CEO of DSTV Mobile, has been appointed to take over from Jansen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Person Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/350090-Mark-Rayner\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Rayner<\/a>, General Manager of DStv Mobile in South Africa, will take over as CEO of the mobile broadcaster at the end of February 2012. Rayner joined <a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/216214-MultiChoice\" target=\"_blank\">MultiChoic<\/a>e as CFO of DStv Mobile South Africa in 2007 and was later promoted to General Manager in October 2008.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>JSE-listed <a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/396391-DigiCore-Holdings\" target=\"_blank\">DigiCore Holdings<\/a> advised that Francois Schindehutte resigned as group financial director with immediate effect, to pursue his own interests.
