{"id":373396,"date":"2020-02-12T12:10:31","date_gmt":"2020-02-12T10:10:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=373396"},"modified":"2020-02-12T12:10:31","modified_gmt":"2020-02-12T10:10:31","slug":"big-changes-planned-for-gautengs-online-vehicle-licence-booking-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/internet\/373396\/big-changes-planned-for-gautengs-online-vehicle-licence-booking-system\/","title":{"rendered":"Big changes planned for Gauteng&#8217;s online vehicle licence booking system"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 2018 the Department of Transport and the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) launched the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/motoring\/268451\/you-can-now-book-to-renew-your-drivers-licence-using-gautengs-new-online-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NaTIS online booking service<\/a><\/strong>, allowing Gauteng motorists to apply for their driver&#8217;s and vehicle licences online.<\/p>\n<p>While the online system has proved popular, a number of BusinessTech readers have complained that it has grown increasingly difficult to book a spot at their local licensing centre through the portal.<\/p>\n<p>The NaTIS website states that bookings are updated in real-time, with driving licensing testing centres opening new slots on a regular basis.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, these slots are <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/online.natis.gov.za\/#\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">opened<\/a> <\/strong>at 07h45 on the following days:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ekhuruleni &#8211; Wednesday<\/li>\n<li>Merafong &#8211; Monday<\/li>\n<li>West Rand &#8211; Daily<\/li>\n<li>Tshwane &#8211; Monday<\/li>\n<li>Johannesburg &#8211; Tuesday<\/li>\n<li>Mogale City &#8211; Daily<\/li>\n<li>Sedibeng &#8211; Monday<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Speaking to BusinessTech, RTMC spokesperson Simon Zwane said that the organisation is &#8216;largely satisfied&#8217; with the system but is constantly looking at how it is improved.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the RTMC takes into account customer comments and was aware of the difficulties some people were having in making bookings.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are having continuous engagements with municipalities and provinces about the opening of slots.
