{"id":374,"date":"2011-12-06T11:33:12","date_gmt":"2011-12-06T11:33:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=374"},"modified":"2011-12-07T19:00:12","modified_gmt":"2011-12-07T19:00:12","slug":"alan-knott-craig-in-talks-to-head-up-cell-c","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/374\/alan-knott-craig-in-talks-to-head-up-cell-c\/","title":{"rendered":"Alan Knott-Craig in talks to head up Cell C?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MyBroadband has received information from two separate sources that former Vodacom CEO <a title=\"Alan Knott-Graig\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/224891-Alan-Knott-Craig-%28Senior%29\">Alan Knott-Craig<\/a> has been talking to <a title=\"Cell C\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/213919-Cell-C\">Cell C<\/a> about the company\u2019s future and a possible \u2018rescue plan\u2019 for the company.<\/p>\n<p>One source close to Cell C said that Knott-Craig may be interested in taking over as Cell C CEO from 1 April 2012 (after his <a title=\"Vodacom\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/227063-Vodacom\">Vodacom<\/a> restraint of trade contract ends on 31 March 2012), as long as the company can assure him sufficient budget to execute his plans.<\/p>\n<p>Cell C has been without a permanent CEO since former chief executive <a title=\"Lars Reichelt\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/210083-Lars-Reichelt\">Lars Reichelt<\/a> left the company in July 2011. Cell C chairman <a title=\"Simon Duffy\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/349634-Simon-Duffy\">Simon Duffy<\/a> has been serving as acting CEO since Reichelt\u2019s departure.<\/p>\n<p>Another rumour circulating in the market is that Knott-Craig is in discussions to facilitate an investment in the company which will give the operator more funds.<\/p>\n<p>Neither Cell C nor Knott-Craig would confirm or deny these rumours.
