{"id":376799,"date":"2020-02-25T11:07:02","date_gmt":"2020-02-25T09:07:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=376799"},"modified":"2020-02-25T11:07:02","modified_gmt":"2020-02-25T09:07:02","slug":"rain-has-launched-an-uncapped-5g-service-for-r699","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/376799\/rain-has-launched-an-uncapped-5g-service-for-r699\/","title":{"rendered":"Rain has launched an uncapped 5G service for R699"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rain has launched a new 5G product, called the Standard Plan, which offers subscribers an uncapped 30Mbps service for R699 per month.<\/p>\n<p>The operator\u2019s existing 5G package \u2013 which offers speeds of over 200Mbps \u2013\u00a0 has been renamed to the Premium Plan.<\/p>\n<p>Rain launched its commercial 5G service on 11 November 2019, offering subscribers unlimited data at speeds of up to 700Mbps for R1,000 per month.<\/p>\n<p>Since launch Rain has <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wireless\/336282-big-rain-5g-expansion-here-is-where-you-can-get-it.html\"><strong>doubled its 5G coverage<\/strong><\/a> which was achieved by adding more sites and providing a new 5G router to users.<\/p>\n<p>Rain\u2019s chief marketing officer Khaya Dlanga said the latest version of Rain\u2019s 5G router can be used both indoors and outdoors.<\/p>\n<p>He added that Rain is planning to expand its 5G coverage to Cape Town and Durban in 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New R699 Rain product<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rain has launched a new, cheaper uncapped 5G product and it no longer requires customers to enter into a 24-month contract.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCustomers can now have access to the rain 5G network on a month-to-month basis, plus a free-to-use 5G router as long as the customer\u2019s 5G account is paid up,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n<p>This change also automatically applies to anyone who may have already signed up as a contract user during the past few months.<\/p>\n<p>Customer can upgrade from Standard to Premium effective immediately.
