{"id":381565,"date":"2020-03-14T18:00:01","date_gmt":"2020-03-14T16:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=381565"},"modified":"2020-03-13T16:04:13","modified_gmt":"2020-03-13T14:04:13","slug":"these-are-the-most-popular-loyalty-programmes-in-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/finance\/381565\/these-are-the-most-popular-loyalty-programmes-in-south-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"These are the most popular loyalty programmes in South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"st\">Loyalty consultancy<em> Truth <\/em><\/span>and BrandMapp have published their loyalty landscape whitepaper for 2019\/2020, outlining the most popular loyalty programmes in South Africa right now.<\/p>\n<p>The report is based on the loyalty habits of around 26,100 adults, with a gross monthly household income of R10,000 or more.<\/p>\n<p>Respondents who indicate they use loyalty programmes were asked to select the loyalty programmes they use the most.<\/p>\n<p>As seen over the past five years, retail programmes still dominate the loyalty landscape with seven out of the top 10 being retail loyalty programmes.<\/p>\n<p>The Clicks ClubCard remains steady at number one, with 71% of respondents saying they use Clicks ClubCard the most.<\/p>\n<p>Pick n Pay Smart Shopper and Dis-Chem Benefit hold their positions at second and third place, respectively.<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Loyalty.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-381569\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Loyalty.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"472\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Loyalty.png 762w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Loyalty-300x177.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>FNB eBucks entered the top five for the first time since 2015, and is the only retail bank to enter the top five.<\/p>\n<p>By comparison, Edcon&#8217;s thank U programme saw a 15% point decline from 47% in 2018 (at 4th position) to 32% in 2019, settling at sixth position.<\/p>\n<p>Woolworths WRewards also improved from ranking fifth in 2018 to 4th position in 2019, having also surpassed Edcon thank U.<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Loyatly-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-381571 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Loyatly-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"674\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Loyatly-2.png 674w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Loyatly-2-300x191.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 674px) 100vw, 674px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Spur&#8217;s Family Card has remained as the only restaurant loyalty programme in the top 10 and has successfully achieved this over the last 5 years.<\/p>\n<p>Discovery Vitality also remains within the boundaries of the top 10 and is the only financial wellness programme featured in the top 25 most used programmes.<\/p>\n<p>When looking at the results by gender, &#8220;we typically see women skew in usage towards grocery and clothing loyalty programmes compared to men,&#8221;
