{"id":385291,"date":"2020-03-29T15:00:11","date_gmt":"2020-03-29T13:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=385291"},"modified":"2020-03-27T16:55:59","modified_gmt":"2020-03-27T14:55:59","slug":"here-are-the-measures-sars-is-putting-in-place-during-the-coronavirus-lockdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/finance\/385291\/here-are-the-measures-sars-is-putting-in-place-during-the-coronavirus-lockdown\/","title":{"rendered":"Here are the measures SARS is putting in place during the coronavirus lockdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The South African Revenue Service (SARS) will continue to offer a number of services during South Africa&#8217;s 21-day coronavirus lockdown, says commissioner Edward Kieswetter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wish to reassure them that SARS remains committed to providing the necessary services necessary for government to continue receiving the necessary tax revenues that fund the provision of public goods and services, whilst ensuring that the much-needed refunds flow to taxpayers already experiencing hardship,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Even during this trying time, as part of our strategic objective, we will continue to provide certainty and make it easy for taxpayers and traders to interact with SARS.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am sure that honest taxpayers would also like the assurance that during this time, our tax and customs laws remain in force to prevent fraudulent and criminal abuse of the tax system.<\/p>\n<p>Below are the list of service options which will be open to taxpayers during the lockdown.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"ms-rteElement-H3\"><strong>Online services<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>If you need to interact with SARS, you may use online channels such as eFiling, the SARS MobiApp and e@syFile. The following are available on eFiling:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Enquiry about debt outstanding and make a payment<\/li>\n<li>Enquiry about returns outstanding<\/li>\n<li>Tax Compliance Status (Application for TCS)<\/li>\n<li>Notice of Registration (IT150)<\/li>\n<li>Filing your Tax Returns<\/li>\n<li>Update personal details (including Bank Details)<\/li>\n<li>Request Statement of Account<\/li>\n<li>Register for Income Tax<\/li>\n<li>Submission of Supporting Documents for an audit case<\/li>\n<li>Lodge a Dispute<\/li>\n<li>Tax Product Registration<\/li>\n<li>Tax Directive Management<\/li>\n<li>Lodge a complaint<\/li>\n<li>Username Retrieval and Password Reset<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"ms-rteElement-H3\"><strong>SARS Contact Centre<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SARS will have staff available at the SARS Contact Centre and you can engage with them on 0800 00 7277. The following services are available at the SARS Contact Centre:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enquiry about on debt outstanding<\/li>\n<li>Enquiry about on returns outstanding<\/li>\n<li>Tax Compliance Status<\/li>\n<li>Filing your Tax Returns<\/li>\n<li>Request Statement of Account<\/li>\n<li>How to Submit supporting documents for an audit case<\/li>\n<li>Lodge a complaint<\/li>\n<li>Username Retrieval and Password Reset<\/li>\n<li>Request for advice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Mail facilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As not all services are available through the online channels and via the SARS Contact Centre, the revenue collector has therefore provided the following dedicated e-mail channels for you to engage with SARS:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">General Mail:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li><a href=\"mailto:Contact.north@sars.gov.za\">Contact.north@sars.gov.za<\/a>\u00a0(North regions, including Pretoria, North West, Limpopo, Mpumalanga &amp;
