MTN<\/a> has announced that it has appointed former chief financial officer, Zunaid Bulbulia<\/a> as CEO for the group’s South African operations.<\/p>\n

Bulbulia will replace former MD, Karel Pienaar<\/a>, who will now function as the MTN Group chief strategy officer.<\/p>\n

Bulbulia has 19 years of experience in telecoms, and is also a founding member of MTN. He was appointed CFO of MTN SA in 2005. As CEO, he is tasked with bolstering MTN\u2019s competitive position in the South Africa market.<\/p>\n

Pienaar\u2019s appointment as CSO will see MTN\u2019s Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) and Strategy functions being separated, with Khumo Shuenyane<\/a> focusing on M&A and international business development, MTN said.<\/p>\n

As Group Chief Strategy Officer, Pienaar will be responsible for overseeing MTN strategy across its 22 operations.<\/p>\n

MTN Group President and CEO Sifiso Dabengwa<\/a> said both Pienaar and Bulbulia are experienced executives who understand MTN\u2019s business priorities and challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe look forward to their continued contribution to MTN\u2019s growth in their new roles,\u201d Dabengwa said.<\/p>\n
