{"id":389605,"date":"2020-04-15T07:05:23","date_gmt":"2020-04-15T05:05:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=389605"},"modified":"2020-04-15T07:05:58","modified_gmt":"2020-04-15T05:05:58","slug":"government-cuts-off-funding-to-saa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/389605\/government-cuts-off-funding-to-saa\/","title":{"rendered":"Government cuts off funding to SAA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South African Airways has been denied any further funding by its government owner as the national carrier looks for ways to recover from the coronavirus crisis and a local form of bankruptcy protection.<\/p>\n<p>The airline\u2019s administrators, who were put in charge in December, were told by the state to instead source cash from available resources, according to a letter they sent to affected parties and to Bloomberg News dated April 14.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are currently assessing the impact of this development on the business-rescue process and will communicate any decisions to be made,&#8221;
