approach with more severely affected areas set to face stricter regulations than areas that don&#8217;t have as many coronavirus cases, he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To ensure that our response to the pandemic can be as precise and targeted as possible, there will be a national level and separate levels for each province, district and metro in the country.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To illustrate this point, the Presidency has published a map of the areas which have currently reported the most number of cases across the country.<\/p>\n<p>While the map does not definitively state that the highlighted areas will face stricter regulations, it does show the stark difference in reported cases across the country.<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Map-2-.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-392391 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Map-2-.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"641\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Map-2-.png 1280w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Map-2--300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Map-2--1024x513.png 1024w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Map-2--768x385.png 768w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Map-2--1200x601.png 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Notably, it appears that the largest number of cases have been reported in specific districts across\u00a0Gauteng, the Western Cape and KZN.<\/p>\n<p>This aligns with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/391553\/first-details-on-how-south-africa-wants-to-lift-the-coronavirus-lockdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">comments<\/a> <\/strong>made\u00a0Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma &#8211; one of the key decisionmakers on the country&#8217;s lockdown regulations.<\/p>\n<p>In a parliamentary meeting on Tuesday (21 April), Dlamini-Zuma said that it is unlikely that the lockdown will be eased all at once countrywide, and that there may be \u2018differentiated lockdowns\u2019 in provinces with a high number of coronavirus cases such as Gauteng, KZN, and the Western Cape.<\/p>\n<p>This means that a district which has had fewer cases or a less likely chance of transmission may have different lockdown rules than a more \u2018high-risk\u2019 area, she said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Levels<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Alert-levels-May.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-392267 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Alert-levels-May.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"601\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Alert-levels-May.png 1200w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Alert-levels-May-300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Alert-levels-May-1024x513.png 1024w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Alert-levels-May-768x385.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As it stands, South Africa is set to move to &#8216;Level 4&#8217; of restrictions from 30 April.<\/p>\n<p>The levels, which denote the level of action needed to stop the spread of the virus, are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Level 5 \u2013 drastic measures are required;<\/li>\n<li>Level 4 \u2013 some activity can be allowed, subject to extreme requirements;<\/li>\n<li>Level 3 \u2013 the easing on some restrictions on work and social activities;<\/li>\n<li>Level 2 \u2013 further easing of restrictions, but the maintenance of social distancing;<\/li>\n<li>Level 1 \u2013 most normal activity can resume, with caution and health guidelines followed at all times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Read: <a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/392319\/new-restrictions-for-south-african-businesses-coming-back-from-lockdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New restrictions for South African businesses coming back from lockdown<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Government is adopting a &#8216;risk-based&#8217;
