{"id":393834,"date":"2020-04-30T07:26:37","date_gmt":"2020-04-30T05:26:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=393834"},"modified":"2020-04-30T07:26:37","modified_gmt":"2020-04-30T05:26:37","slug":"heres-what-can-be-bought-and-sold-under-level-4-lockdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/393834\/heres-what-can-be-bought-and-sold-under-level-4-lockdown\/","title":{"rendered":"Here&#8217;s what can be bought and sold under level 4 lockdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs has published the latest Covid-19 regulations for level 4 lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>The move to level 4, from 1 May 2020, represents a general easing of the restrictions to allow more people to return to work and a marginal increase in movement.<\/p>\n<p>It allows for exercise under strict conditions, while more products can be sold, and more services will open up including some restaurants for delivery only.<\/p>\n<p>The regulations includes an update on government&#8217;s stance around the sale of cigarettes, which was previously allowed at level 4, but following feedback from various sectors, is<a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/lifestyle\/393808\/no-alcohol-or-cigarettes-to-be-sold-under-south-africas-new-level-4-lockdown\/\"> prohibited<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The easing of restrictions will allow the sale of children&#8217;s clothing, winter clothing and blankets back on the market, as well as stationary, office equipment, and hardware.<\/p>\n<p>This is the full list of items that can be sold at level 4:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Food products, including non-alcoholic beverages and pet food;<\/li>\n<li>The sale of hot cooked food, for home delivery only;<\/li>\n<li>Toilet paper, sanitary pads, tampons and condoms;<\/li>\n<li>Hand sanitiser, disinfectants, soap, alcohol for industrial use, household cleaning products, and personal protective equipment;<\/li>\n<li>Products for care of babies and toddlers;<\/li>\n<li>Personal toiletries, including hair care, body, face, hand and foot care products, roll-ons, deodorants, dental care products;<\/li>\n<li>Medical and Hospital Supplies, medicine, equipment and personal protective equipment;<\/li>\n<li>Fuel and lighting, including coal, wood, paraffin and gas;<\/li>\n<li>Airtime and electricity;<\/li>\n<li>Hardware, components and supplies;<\/li>\n<li>Components for vehicles undergoing emergency repairs;<\/li>\n<li>Chemicals, packaging and ancillary products used in the production of any these products;<\/li>\n<li>Textiles required to produce face masks and other personal protective equipment and winter clothing;<\/li>\n<li>Winter clothing, footwear, bedding and heaters and the components and fabric required to manufacture these;<\/li>\n<li>Children&#8217;s clothing and fabrics and components required to manufacture these;<\/li>\n<li>Stationery and educational books;<\/li>\n<li>Personal ICT equipment including computers, mobile phones and other home office equipment;<\/li>\n<li>No sale of liquor is permitted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The regulations note that future directions may permit the incremental expansion of e-commerce, taking into account the need to\u00a0 limit the extent of movement on the road, contact between people and other impacts on other businesses.<\/p>\n<p>These items are able to be sold across all levels of retail, including spaza shops, informal traders and e-commerce stores.<\/p>\n<p>You can read the full regulations below:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px auto 6px auto;
