As part of its 4Afrika intiative launched in February 2013, Microsoft<\/a> SA and the Development Bank of South Africa (DBSA<\/a>) have launched a campaign aimed at helping 3,000 graduates find jobs in IT.<\/p>\n

The DBSA, through the National Jobs Fund, had approved a R146 million grant towards the initiative and Microsoft had matched this funding.<\/p>\n

At the launch of the 4Afrika initiative, Microsoft SA MD, Mteto Nyati<\/a> said that the multi-million dollar project would focus on one key area in South Africa: unemployment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are 19 years into our democracy\u2026the only thing that can ruin this miracle (of South Africa)..is the huge problem of unemployment amongst the youth,\u201d Nyati said at the time.<\/p>\n

Amongst the intiative’s goals of developing apps and boosting startups, Micrsoft highlighted its aim to employ 3,000 graduates within its ecosystem.<\/p>\n

Microsoft aims to see 75% of students in the initiative retain full-time employment at the end of a 12-month contract.<\/p>\n
